Position: Front-end Developer


Cognitran Limited is an established Software Company headquartered in the UK with additional offices in the US and Poland. This position will be based from our head office in Essex. This is an excellent opportunity for a Front-end Developer to play an active role in the development and implementation of bespoke software solutions primarily used by the automotive industry.

We are looking for an experienced Front-end Developer who can take an existing set of business requirements and produce well-written code that provides an excellent, optimised experience across mobile, tablet and desktop devices.

You will be expected to:

  • Take a design concept and hand-code it into a complete, responsive, working prototype with valid HTML and comprehensive cross-browser support
  • Develop the existing codebases to improve the front-end functionality in terms of performance, maintainability and usability
  • Fix a wide-range of front-end related bugs and issues that have been raised in existing products. These can range from small styling fixes to complex JavaScript issues
  • Ensure that the development and maintenance of our existing products remain consistent throughout in terms of theme and functionality, whilst adhering to high technical standards
  • Review the existing front-end structure on a project-by-project basis and supply constructive feedback on how we can improve our codebase

Essential Skills:

  • 2 years’ commercial experience in a similar role
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Proficiency in jQuery
  • Proficiency in Sass or Less
  • Experience in object-oriented JavaScript and building large JavaScript applications
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good knowledge of Git
  • Knowledge of Gulp, NPM, Yarn, or similar tools
  • Good understanding of code optimization
  • Ability to understand the importance of validating your code
  • Experience with cross-browser testing
  • Solid understanding of Responsive Web Design
  • Experience using frameworks such as Bootstrap
  • Passion for web technologies and desire to keep up to date with their advances

Desirable Skills:

  • React, Node, Express or Angular knowledge/experience
  • Good understanding of how Jira works
  • ES6 knowledge
  • UX/Usability knowledge
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
