The Background:

Our Customer is a large Language Services Provider (LSP). They receive translation projects from their client through a direct web connection. The manual file handling proved time consuming, error-prone and expensive.

The Task:

Automate the file handling

Provide the project manager/translator with complete job packages, including reference files.

Allow automated communication between the LSP's and their client's systems at various stages of the workflow.

The Cognitran Solution:

CODI enables translation agencies to exchange work more efficiently with large customers. It include the following features:

• Automation of typical activities like checkout of data from the repository.
• Bulk unattended file transfer to and from remote systems.
• Web services integration with customers.
• Automated composition of source and target XML materials into PDF and HTML.
• Integration of local translation memory and project management tools.

The Result:

The total time for file handling was reduced from 5 minutes per target file to multiple* target files per minute (*depending on connectivity speed).

Due to the improved reporting system, the number of missed files was reduced and the minimum turnaround time improved by 2 days.
