Cognitran are represented on the CEN (European Committee for Standards) Technical Committee that is tasked with taking the existing OASIS format under Euro 5 and developing it into a wider European standard to cover all aspects of vehicle repair, service, maintenance and diagnostics.
Cognitran were the only Information Technology Company identified by the European Commission Mandate M/421 to play a key role in the development of the new CEN standard. As a member of the Organisation for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS) Cognitran provided input to the Automotive Repair Working Group that developed the data format referenced under Euro 5.
A CEN standard governing standarized access to vehicle manufacturers' Repair and Maintenance Information (RMI) is envisaged under Euro 5 and is currently being progressed in CEN TC 301. There are two parallel standards being developed. The first standard is EN/ISO 18541 "Road vehicles - Standardized access to automotive repair and maintenance information (RMI)" and covers use cases for accessing the RMI and the technical requirements for this. The second standard EN/ISO 18542 "Road vehicles - Standardized repair and maintenance information (RMI) terminology covers requirements for a terminology management system that will be used to manage the agreed terminology for searching of the RMI systems and the process by which agreed terminology is created.
